Notfall-Informationspunkte sind Informations- und Notrufstellen für die Bevölkerung. Um bei einem längeren Stromausfall oder Totalausfall der Telefonnetze noch Notrufe absetzen zu können, gibt es die sogenannten Notfall-Infopunkte. Im Stadtgebiet Lünen wurden insgesamt 7 Orte festgelegt, an denen Notrufe aufgegeben werden können. Sie werden durch Einsatzkräfte der Feuerwehren oder andere Hilfsorganisationen besetzt und übermitteln von dort die Informationen per Funk an die Leitstelle weiter, die dann in gewohnter Form die Rettungskräfte alarmiert. Besetzt werden die Notfall-Infopunkte nur bei einem lang anhaltenden Stromausfall oder einem schwerwiegenden Ausfall von Mobilfunk und Festnetz.
